Gaz Rose

‘Gary (Gaz to most people) has been a Salvationist all of his life and grew up in a village in north Derbyshire called Clowne. He began playing the cornet at age 4 and progressed through the ranks of SA banding into the senior band at the age of 17, still on cornet. At the age of around 22 his embouchure collapsed and after consultation with the likes of Stan Lippeatt (amongst others), the decision was made to move Gary onto euphonium.

Gary moved south to London at the age of 27 and 3 years later joined the International Staff Band where he served as Principal Baritone for around 7 years. He gained credibility as a player in those years and since leaving the ISB has travelled internationally and locally as a soloist both on Euphonium and as a vocal soloist too. He is well known in Salvation Army circles as a Euphonium player, trombone player, pianist, vocalist, conductor and more recently a composer for both the SA vocal and brass journals, and is in demand in many of those capacities within The Salvation Army throughout the year for various concerts and celebrations.

Gary became a Geneva Artist around 3 years ago where he promoted the Symphony Euphonium before recently taking on the Oldroyd Cardinal Glenn van Looy which he now relishes the opportunity to play and endorse. Gary loves being part of the Geneva family and encourages people to contact him about the range before he puts them in touch with our Geneva reps.’
