During this time, Sam has also enjoyed a career in freelancing, both as a cornet trumpet and flugelhorn player. His passion for performance was furthered by a successful audition and offer to study trumpet at the Royal Northern College of Music. During this time of study, Sam continued his development, studying under some of the finest trumpet players in the country. During this time, Sam has also been fortunate enough to travel the world with his work, performing and teaching in; Australia, Vietnam and Thailand to name a few places.

Sam has enjoyed a successful few years freelancing in and around Manchester since graduating from the RNCM, and now holds the full time trumpet position with the much loved Manchester Ska Foundation. Performing up and down the country at a multitude of venues and events, Sam has headlined festivals alongside the likes of UB40, Happy Monday’s and Bad Manners. Alongside this, Sam continues freelancing within a classical capacity too, also branching out with fixing and organising various events, such as recordings and small concerts.

‘I was honoured to be offered this position with Geneva. I believe I have found my perfect instrument. The timbre and control I receive from my Ulysses trumpet is amazing and fits my playing style perfectly. I could not ask for a better instrument for my current performance commitments. The mentor cornet is a first class instrument too, with similar qualities. I would like to thanks Brett and the team for affording the opportunity to me’
