Thomas Fountain

Thomas started playing the cornet at the age of three through the Salvation Army and it was somewhat inevitable with both his parents, Gary and Cathy, both cornet players themselves.

Thomas progressed through the Northamptonshire County Music Service becoming principal cornet of the youth band for 3 years and has also held the principal cornet seat of the prestigious Youth Brass 2000 since the age of 13.

He has been fortunate enough to take part in various solo concerts including a solo appearance in Canada. Thomas was awarded the BBC Young Brass Player of the Year under 18 for 2013 and has won numerous soloist awards within the youth brass band circuit and the best soloist at the Mine Workers National Brass Band Competition.

Thomas also holds the prestigious position of Principal Cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Currently studying Trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music Thomas succeeded his brother James to become the Principal Cornet of the band in October 2015.
